Our Commitment to Child Safety

Scape Student Living is more than just accommodation. Our residents are at the centre of all that we do. We are dedicated to creating safe, inclusive and supportive communities with a unique residential life programme designed to ensure our residents are engaged socially, motivated in their studies and inspired for life after uni. Our goal is to provide market leading pastoral care that is aligned with our Tertiary Partners and the wider community. Embracing diversity and the culture of both our Aboriginal and Torres Straight Island residents and our broader international customers, delivering equity to all. Our processes are built on transparency and continuous improvement, and we ensure regular student feedback and contribution. Each resident is a unique individual and can expect from Scape, an environment that has clear, reasonable and effective practices, and that aligns with the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations and applicable regional Child Safe Standards where we provide accommodation.

THE CENTRE OF YOUR WORLD
IN THE HEART OF THE CITY

While our rooms are as comfy as possible, you won’t be spending much time in them, thanks to our world class cultural hub, and access to new cultures, ideas and possibilities.

Check in

All students get a thorough orientation to the building and their apartment at check-in. Furthermore, our customer experience staff go through the house rules and special house rules for under 18 students.

Induction

Our Next Generation staff meets with the students within three days from the check-in and carries out an under 18 student’s induction with all the information they need to know while living at Scape and in Melbourne.

Next Generation Student’s Curfew Process

The curfew is in place to make sure our young adults are safe.

Sign a curfew

All next Generation students must sign a curfew between 9.30 pm to 10.00 pm.

Follow-up

If a student misses signing curfew, our staff follows ups with the student and visits the student's room until they locate the student.

Curfew breaches

The Next Generation team communicates all the curfew breaches to the institution on the spot, or the following day, depending on the nature of the breach.

Daily curfew signing between 9.30 pm-10.00 pm
No guests after 10.00 pm
No overnight guests in the room

Our next-generation students have the opportunity to participate in engagement activities and educational programs organised by the Next Generation staff. It's evidence-based proof that healthy social interaction is a key to enhancing students' wellbeing, therefore Scape is always committed to improving our young adults' wellbeing.
